Surf spots Australia: Surf Atlas - Onlineboarding.com
The
Australian surfing coast is often the envy of surfers world wide. On
just about every tip of the map there's a surf spot.
There's epic
breaks like Kirra, Bells, the Cactus region, Margaret River and
Gnaraloo. And there's surfers. Thousands of 'em! Finding a wave to
yourself in metro regions is virtually impossible but travel just a
few hours and there's always a spot with nobody out. Perhaps that's
where Australia's fierce localism comes from?
A memorable article in
an Australian surf magazine a few years ago reported the torture
suffered by some of their surf team at the hands of South Australia's
west coast locals. And the Queensland points aren't exactly a
welcoming place for a first timer. That aside, the map of Australia is
a gold mine for the travelling surfer. Get in the car and go.
