Surf spots New South Wales: Surf Atlas - Onlineboarding.com
This region is the most populated in Australia. Expect more crowds here than anywhere else in the country. You can also expect the biggest variety of quality waves. The North coast around Byron Bay has several world class waves within kilometres. Lennox Head is a long point that rivals J-Bay. The Pass at Byron is just as long/longer. Apart from these epic points there miles of beachies that can provide escape from the crowds. Stay away from the points during holidays unless you don't mind a crowd. In Sydney there's waves literally everywhere and a surfing population to match. It's no wonder that so many world champions have come out of this region. Towards the southern border, NSW provides some thick waves in a country setting. Aussie Pipe is so named for its similarity to Pipeline and is located in an Aboriginal Reserve.

Best swell: Southern Ocean lows to come through. The tighter and further away the better. Crowds: medium in the country regions, heavy in the well known spots

Best wind: light north westerlies Getting around: need a car
Accomodation: from $20 AUD pp Water temp: very cold due to the currents off Southern Australia.
Best Time of year: Autumn and Spring Day Air temp: hot in summer very cold in winter
