Surf spots West Coast SA: Surf Atlas - Onlineboarding.com
Eight hours from Adelaide and on the edge of the Nullabor Plain you'll
find the sharkiest waters in Australia. With that as a deterrent the
world class waves of South Australia's west coast often go unridden.
About 20 km out of Penong is Point Sinclair which offers the Cactus
area. You can camp at Catcus for a small fee and by far the best wave
is Caves which produces long thick barrels.
Around Streaky Bay there's several world class waves. The most well
known is Granites, another long point with a heavy take-off zone that
loves a SE wind. At Elliston you'll come across Blacks, said to be one
of the heaviest waves in Australia. This region is well known for its
locals and its sharks.

Best swell:
watch for the big Southern Ocean lows to come through. If they dip
down south you are on! Really though, this region is an absolute
swell magnet and you are guaranteed some size. |
Crowds:
very mild. On occasions you'll surf world class waves alone.
Sharky though. |
