Surf spots Ecuador: Surf Atlas - Onlineboarding.com
Surfing in Ecuador is made more pleasant by the warm waters of the
Panama current. Ecuador lights up in a big swell - which isn't that
often. During the months over Christmas, Ecuador gets the tail of the Hawaiin swells which makes the points north of
the town of Salinas work.
Heading south from Salinas, there's a variety of waves that work in
the S swells of the winter months. El Palado is near the town of
Playas and is probably the pick of the bunch. You may need to go to
the local surf club to get into some of the breaks - they need a
permit.
Really, between the towns of Playas and Manta, there are about 15
better known breaks. Manta shares its name with the bodyboard brand
and it's evident with the amount of bodyboarders that hang out there.
